I finally finished taking down the walls in the kitchen, though I think I still have to pull off those furring strips. However, I have generated a ton of garbage, so I’ll hold off on that for now. I also have to make the wall between the kitchen and dining room into a half wall, but that can come later. I think the next step will be to rip out the floor down to the subfloor. After that, I’m not sure. I may have to consult with Mick.

Here’s how things look right now.

And I also found another brilliant thing my contractor did. The lights in the kitchen branch off the circuit that runs on the second floor. This seems like it’s not the best idea, but I really don’t know how to switch that. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get to a junction box someplace from upstairs. Because I also have to take out all the electric lines currently on the outside wall and I’d like to be able to disconnect them without having to rip out part of the recently finished ceiling.

And the bit of good news is that the fuse that controls the doorbell and outlet near was just blown. After I flipped it (when I was flipping all of them to find out which one controlled the outlets in the kitchen), I found the doorbell works just fine. Yay! I’ll take any good news I can get.
