Half Year Check-In
It’s definitely been a while since I’ve even looked at my website. The past few months have been kind of crazy with me working a ridiculous amount and not having much time to do almost anything. However, back in March, I made a decision that I was going to change the main focus of the year. I wanted to see if I could lose enough weight to no longer be classified as clinically obese, so get my BMI under 30. I joined Noom, which has helped. And I’m happy to say that as of the other day, I was down 20 pounds and made my first target.
I’ve been doing a daily walk on most days. I did skip last week because after being at a party with a bunch of other unmasked people, I had a pretty bad cold and felt lousy. However, I started my walks again, which I am very much enjoying. And I haven’t really changed my diet that much, but it’s enough to get me going. The biggest change is I try to only eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread. The rest is I just try to make sure I’m eating more fruits and vegetables and other low-calorie density food. It really hasn’t been that difficult and in all honesty I’m not that strict with myself. The best part is my knees and joints in general, feel great. I don’t wake up stiff and in pain any more and I can do lots of manual labor around the house without any trouble. I’m somewhat ashamed that I didn’t start doing this years ago.
Anyway, I decided to give myself a gift for reaching the first goal. And even though I haven’t been biking much because I’ve been doing much more walking, I think I’m going to get myself a new gravel bike. If I want to lose more weight, which I do, since I’m feeling so good now, I think I’m going to have to be a bit harsher in how much I eat and get even more exercise in. Plus, I still love riding a bike, so why not.
