Mom, Nancy, John and Julie in France

After a hard day exploring the stomping ground of Louis XIV, Nancy, John, Julie, and Lois decide to take the grotesquely uncomfortable tram around the remainder of the Versailles garden. Lois smiles for the camera as she walks away satisfied.

Posing for a momentary respite from their fun-filled day which varied between trips to churches and burlesque shows, Lois, Nancy, and Julie pose in front of Napoleon's own church, La Madeleine. The trick in this photo is to see the cunningly placed tourist attractions in the background: Cleopatra's Needle in the center of the most beautiful square in the world, Place de la Concorde, the National Assembly, and the burial ground of Napoleon himself, Invalides.

Nancy and Julie stare awkwardly at nothing, waiting for the picture to be taken amidst the grand pillars of Napoleon's arrogantly built La Madeleine.

On Tuesday, Nancy, Julie, and Lois wait hopelessly for the weekends-only fountains to start pumping. "Let's give them tem more minutes, then we'll go."

After walking at least ten steps (after having taken a series of buses and escalators), Nancy, Lois, and Julie breathlessly approach the highest point in Paris.

Clouds move over Big Ben for the first warm rain of the visit to London.

PROBABLY THE BEST PICTURE OF THE BUNCH: Nancy, Lois, and Julie pose under an old tree at Shrigley Hall, the mansion-hotel that, as the crow flies, is just one mile from Pemberly, but, as the car drives, is more like ten miles. (Can you see Manchester in the distance?)

In the heart of Le Marais (The Swamp) in the fourth district of Paris sits St. Paul's Cathedral. This unusual angle on St. Paul was taken from John's top (fifth) floor kitchen window at 123, rue St. Antoine.
