Tonight, I finally got off the old cast-iron drain from the tub. It was connected to the main stack with lead. So I had to drill some holes into it and then just chisel it out. I broke one drill bit (9/16″ RIP) and also cracked the screwdriver that I was using to pry it out. But, after about 2 hours, I got the pipe out. So, I’m very happy that’s over.

Tomorrow, I start playing with fire. I have to unscrew the old drain from the sink. Mickey told me that I should heat the joint up as hot as I can and then try to unscrew it. I’m hoping that I don’t burn my house down in the process. Once that’s done though, I can put the new floor down and finish framing out the exterior wall and the new wall going around the gas line.
