There’s really no burning desire that I have for this year. I think the pandemic has washed away any big hopes or ideas. All I’d really like to be able to do this year is maybe travel somewhere and not worry about getting sick. The other stuff is just continuations for my resolutions for previous years. I’d like to continue to walk more. Getting up and going for a walk first thing in the morning just seems to start my day off right. That doesn’t include walking in a few inches of snow (like now), so I know I won’t be doing it every day. But a general moving around more is what I want to do. And I have been doing that, so it’s just a matter of keeping it up.

Continuing to learn new stuff is always something I want to do. I’m understanding more about electronics, though I’m not yet to the lever where I could actually make anything on my own. But as long as I put the work in, I should learn enough to design and have a simple board manufactured. That would be pretty cool.

Woodworking is coming along. All during the holiday break I’ve been cleaning up some old boards and gluing them together. I have a good stack of 6-7 of them now. Next I’ll square them up and then plane them. Then I’ll be able to use them in some project.

Today I started a bunch of geranium seeds. It seems really early to me, but I read that it takes them a long time to germinate (14-21 days), so they should be started in January so you have some plants ready to go in spring. I bought some inexpensive heat mats which is supposed to help with seed starting. We’ll see if this works.

For a very specific resolution, I want to get the back stairs and retaining wall finished this year. I have to wait for the weather to warm up, but I think I know what I want to do. So that should be a fun project, but I know it’s going to take a while. As soon as the weather is a little warm, I need to get the concrete put in so that it’s done and I’ll have enough time to work on the stairs.

I can’t really think of anything else right now. So I guess I’ll leave it. Generally speaking, I’m pretty happy and content with my life right now. I don’t see me making any big changes, but I also think that I’d be ok with making some changes. That could be fun too.

I guess I should also try to update this site a bit more. I ignored it a lot last year. But I’ll try to post a bit more, especially pictures of any projects that I do. And I should take more pictures of the garden. I’m not going to become a better gardener until I start tracking the things and work and the things that don’t.

Happy New Year!
